We purchased our cakes (cupcakes) on Monday of last week and talked about our ceremonial cake. It’s going to be something unique for sure. Everyone will just have to wait. The invitations will be going out soon so keep an eye out for those everyone!
It’s getting close!
I got to do the second most exhilirating thing in my life today (first being proposing to Caitlin). Victory Motorcycles had a demo ride at the Iowa Speedway in Newton. As nervous as I was, there was no way I could pass that opportunity up. I rode three bikes with the Kingpin being my favorite. I got that one up to 75 mph on the straightaway. That was awesome!
It’s fast approaching. Some exciting news is we bought our wedding bands. They are both awesome. I can’t wait to wear mine and not because of the ring.
Also, I’m in the process of putting together a list of people who might want to golf on Friday at Toad Valley. I imagine we could get a nice weekday rate and it will nice to blow off some nerves. Email me if you are interested. I would like to book them in August sometime.
We met with the caterer and the reception venue again yesterday to give the caterer a sense of where tables would be and serving ideas. It took longer to get out there from work than the meeting took. One more task off the list.
On another note, a very old friend stopped by last night. He’s been living in Kansas for the last 8-10 years and he mentioned he might be moving back to Altoona. He also offered to let me drive his Harley Heritage Classic — but I graciously declined, this time. I need to build some riding confidence before I take out someone’s $20k motorcycle.
I competed in a local competition called the Golden Circle Games yesterday. Local businesses create teams of 10 people and compete in stupid games like chicken in a bucket etc. The theme was 70’s Groove, so our team dressed as half-arsed Star Wars characters. Check out the photos in our Flickr stream (for those who have access). We did win 1st place for the costumes and 3rd place overall. Not bad considering there were about 50 teams.
After having the same grill (Sunbeam) for about 10 years, we decided to finally retire that little guy. He survived my bachelorhood days at the apartment for about 6 of them! I ordered a BroilKing grill from Teakswickerandmore.com because they offered the best price I could find plus free shipping. BroilKing grills are made in Canada (not China) and have a industry groundbreaking burner system. They did have a issue with a recall recently, but that problem has since been addressed. I can’t wait to get the bathroom done and grill fired up to have some friends and family over to have a barbecue to celebrate!
